GUNMAN & THE HOLY GHOST - House For The Dying 7"

Hákon Aðalsteinsson is GUNMAN & THE HOLY GHOST. He has recorded two full-length records, marked by his very own brand of Alt-Country that is steeped in psychedelic melancholia. His past works have been compared to those of Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave or even Porter Wagoner’s „Rubber Room“.

For the upcoming EP, the palette of moods has been extended beyond of what we could expect from Gunman & The Holy Ghost to date - the title giving „House For The Dying“ seems to cast a light that Aðalsteinsson took as the fundament for the five new songs, one of which is a reworking of Jake Holmes’ „Lonely“, that Led Zeppelin later famously stole for „Dazed and Confused“.

Partly recorded in Berlin’s prestigious Funkhaus with such special guest as Joe Dilworth of Stereolab fame, the nocturnal dirges that become illuminated by the approaching dawn and stand as new bear with them a uniqueness that earn every bit of the attention they get.

The experience that the bandleader could gain as being a member and collaborator of The Third Sound, Tess Parks and The Brian Jonestown Massacre is very much audible - it’s the progression of an artistic vision that radiates strongly from these songs.
