The December Sound is back in stock. The record, "The Silver Album" picked up 4 stars in the french music mag Rock'n'Folk. Congrats. Hopefully they will be over here touring soon.

THE DECEMBER SOUND new record "The Silver Album" is out today in Germany. Obviously we really dig it, and if you spend any significant time in the bar and enjoy what we do, we think you will too. We put up a song on the 8MM Musik myspace page for you to scope out. Should be in good record shops all over Germany (via Cargo Germany) next week, and in France in January through our partners diff-rant over there.

A few new things to announce, and even better things coming up that we aren't gonna let you in on just yet. first of all, new dates for Singapore Sling and ET Tumason in the tour section. We will be doing an 8MM Musik label night at the 8MM Bar May 16th. We'll do something special there, don't know what exactly, but we'll figure it out. ET Tumason will be playing and olli 8MM will be playing a few records thereafter.
ET Tumason will (hopefully) finish recording material for his first full length sometime around then as well. Singapore Sling also has a new album (and a new video by Uli Schueppel thanks to our icelandic counterparts MDM records) in the can that we are prepping for release late summer/early fall. More on that later. More news to follow.

An excellent review of our latest release, the 8MM Compilation entitled SHOTS. This is from the newspaper TAZ in Berlin. If per chance you can't read German, the most important things to notice are:

Es ist ein schlecht gehütetes Geheimnis: die beste Bar Berlins steht im Niemandsland zwischen Mitte und Prenzlauer Berg, ist von außen nicht zu erkennen, spielt innen tagein tagaus Jesus & The Mary Chain, Wire wie die Sonics und öffnet im Prinzip erst dann, wenn andere schon wieder schließen.
Die 8mmBar in Berlin verstand es in den letzten Jahren eine unangestrengte Lockerheit in die Berliner Barlandschaft einzubringen, die sich jedwedem Tattoo-, Neon- oder Illegalemkellergewölbeirrsinn einfach entsagte und dabei doch, ja genau, cooler war als alle anderen Möglichkeiten, in Berlin ein Bier, einen Schnaps und einen Longdrink zu bestellen.
Nun eröffnet die kleine Berliner Bar ihr eigenes Plattenlabel 8mm Musik, findet natürlich in der Garage ihre Heimat und veröffentlicht eine “8mmShots” benannte Compilation. Das Besondere und eben auch gerade typische an Bar wie Compilation ist, dass es nicht die bekannten Namen und Semi-Berühmtheiten wie Tarwater oder Julia Hummer sind, die dieses Ding so toll machen, sondern die nie vorher gehörten WG (wie die seligen PopTarts, die über Chlamydien singen und Typen namens “The Greek” und “Fisherman” als backing Band auffahren) oder die isländischen Singapore Sling (als würden Jesus & Mary Chain auf einem Geysir shoegazen). In der Mitte des Albums versteckt sich dann noch ein Solotrack von Josh T Pearson, dem Sänger der verblichenen amerikanischen Indie-Rock Band Lift To Experience: ein achtminütiges Gitarrengeschrammel das ganz offensichtlich vor einem Publikum von circa 4 Leuten mit einem Diktaophon aufgenommen wurde - und dabei nichts weniger als der vielleicht beste Song des jungen Jahres ist.
8mmShots ist nicht LoFi, sondern NoFi und passt zur Bar wie Faust auf Auge. Wunderbar.
