We recorded the song in the notorious Tempelhof Airport in Berlin.
The B Side is a new version of our cover of "I Hate You" by The Monks that we originally did a while back.

You can pick it up at any of our upcoming shows in Germany or ask for it directly from www.8mmmusik.com - It will be available at record stores throughout europe in February courtesy of Cargo Records distribution.

10.1.08 Singapore Sling has a new video up (below) for their lead off single from their forth record. It was shot and stapled together by A.R. "Olli 8MM" Konuk inbetween mixing sessions with Henrik last Christmas. Better even than that, some may say, the Sling are going on tour. Head over to the tour section for up to the second updates.

25.12.07 We added a bunch of links to various online videos of the band below. Check it out. The bands new single "Song For The Spirit" is set for release digitally and in limited supply on 7" vinyl. The B side will feature their cover of the Monks song "I Hate You". Preorders will be taken directly through this site. Henrik just returned to Reykjavik following a mixing session of the new record in Berlin in early December. Shit is sounding tight! Release is scheduled for 2008.

26.9.07 Singapore Sling is back in the studio recording their new record. The first single is finished and slated for release very early 2008, both on 7" vinyl and digital download. More information on the new record and the single are coming very soon.

For those of you who missed it, the band played gigs in Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Milan, Vienna, Prague, and Munich earlier this summer to roadtest some of their new material, and get their first European tour out of the way. Here is some footage of the 2nd show in Paris. Thank you very much Lucie!

BACKGROUND

Singapore Sling is a darkly psychedelic band from Reykjavik, Iceland. They are inexplicable and elusive but remind one of the drugged out soul power bands like Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. Their debut album, "The Curse Of Singapore Sling", came out in Summer 2003. It has gained fans from all over the globe. Their leader is singer-songwriter-guitarist Henrik Björnsson. In addition to Björnsson, the Sling include Håkan Aøalsteinsson on guitar, Einar Kristjansson on guitar, Bibi on bass, Björn Viktorsson on drums and Siggi Shaker on maracas and tambourine.

They did their first tour of America after signing with the Indie label Stinky in late 2002. Then in March 2003, they rocked the house with a show at SXSW and also several packed New York shows (including a sold out show opening for Brian Jonestown Massacre) and several shows on the west coast opening for the Raveonettes. A second Album "Life is Killing My Rock `N´Roll" was released in Sept. 2004.

Since their first release they have played four tours in the United States, several support shows for Brian Jonestown Massacre in the UK and of course many shows in Iceland (Airwaves Festival 2003, 2006 and 2007) and the rest of Scandinavia. Finally in 2005 they made it over to central Europe where they played the Island Festival 2005 in Berlin. This is where Singapore Sling and 8MM met for the very first time.

In the meantime a 3rd record "Taste The Blood Of Singapore Sling" has been released in Iceland. Until now, Singapore has not been exposed to the rest of Europe at all due to their engagement in the USA and their Icelandic isolating tendencies.

8MM Musik picked ten pearls from those 3 records to release an anthology of Singapore Sling in May 2007 to prepare Europe for there live invasion. Singapore Sling are currently working on a new album to be released early 2008, preceded by a new single in November 2007.

Singapore Sling have just returned from a successful first tour of Europe, surprising and delighting crowds in Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Milan, Vienna, Prague, and Munich. They plan to return in September and November for additional live dates.

Press:

“If Iceland has among its many (musical) voices a rock voice, its the one of Singapore Sling.. a sound dear to My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth and all those bands that approach music with bad intentions and a sideways grin.“
–Carlo Zambotti, SLURP MAGAZINE, Milan, May 2007

“A refreshing, blurring line between genius and insanity, Singapore Sling walk it with nary a doubt, their rock 'n' roll swagger unmistakable as they command attention - and get it. I'll give this an A-.”
- Alex Steininger, IN MUSIC WE TRUST, Issue #72 September, 2006

“The perfect soundtrack to a late-night downtown cruise.”
Kevin Hainey, EYE WEEKLY 14.10.04

“..that Icelandic sextet Singapore Sling hails from such polar terrain might explain the outrageously sinister soundscapes... Like My Bloody Valentine filtered through Calla, the songs swirl in an incessant buzz of feedback”
-Shelby Hast, MESH MAGAZINE, December, 2004

“Through and through, this album is moving, engaging, consuming and amazing rock'n'roll.”
-Jenny Tatone, NEUMU, 2003

“Top 20 Records of 2003.. These dudes are loud, like feedback, and sing about drugs, death, or both..”
-BUDDYHEAD

“This music is best enjoyed in the bleak-eyed splendor of an amphetamine buffet.. or perhaps a knife fight”
-Cameron Gordon, LEGENDS MAGAZINE, June 2005
